SDW: Architecture for cinema – Presentation of the Fellini Museum with Orazio Carpenzano and Leonardo Sangiorgi from Studio Azzurro

Stockholm Design Week takes place between September 5-9, 2023. On this occasion and in collaboration with ITA Italian Trade Agency, the Italian Cultural Institute C.M. Lerici organizes two evenings dedicated to architecture, planning ability and cinema. How do these disciplines relate through mutual readings and inspirations?

September 6, at 6:00 pm: the Italian architect Orazio Carpenzano and Leonardo Sangiorgi of Studio Azzurro will present a project made for the recently inaugurated Fellini Museum (Rimini, Italy). The museum, housed in Sismondo castle as well as in Palazzo del Fulgor and in Malatesta square, aims to enhance the cultural heritage of one of the most illustrious directors in the history of international cinema, Federico Fellini. It is such an interesting place where the language of architecture and digital art are merged with the visionary imagination of the director. Studio Azzurro, pioneer of digital video art in Italy, curated the video installations, which are a renowned part of the exhibition. The event is happening in concomitance with the retrospective of Fellini films which is being held at Filmhuset between the months of August and November.

Refreshments will be served.

Studio Azzurro

In 1982 Fabio Cirifino, Paolo Rosa (1949-2013) and Leonardo Sangiorgi started an experience which over the years explored the poetic and expressive possibilities of the new technological languages. Stefano Roveda, an expert in interactive systems, joined them in 1995, until 2011. Through the creation of video environments, sensitive environments, museum itineraries, theatrical performances and films, they design an artistic path transversal to traditional disciplines and form an open working group to different contributions and important collaborations. Studio Azzurro takes the form of an artistic research laboratory often compared to a Renaissance workshop.

The Institute also hosts the event Cinema for architecture and design – Screening of ”Aldo Rossi Design” and ”Il treno di Sottsass” Friday 8th of September.
