SDW: Cinema for architecture and design – Screening of ”Aldo Rossi Design” and ”Il treno di Sottsass”

Friday September 8 the Italian Cultural Institute C.M. Lerici is offering, as a part of Stockholm Design Week (September 5-9) and in collaboration with ITA Italian Trade Agency and Artecinema, the screening of two documentaries dedicated to two great Italian designers, Aldo Rossi and Ettore Sottssas. The event is going to be presented by architect Alessandro Ripellino

Francesca Molteni’s documentary on Aldo Rossi investigates the legacy of the architect in the history of design twenty-five years after his death, along with the link between drawing, object and architecture, and the relationship with industry, technicians and design factories. The documentary on Ettore Sottssas, a legendary name in the much-appreciated Italian design industry, shows the boundless creative universe of the designer starting from his childhood in the Tyrolean mountains and retracing his travels to America – where he discovered the industrial culture –, the poets of Beat Generation that inspired him, and the Olivetti years. The showing of the two documentaries has been organized in collaboration with Artecinema, an international art film festival which takes place every year in Naples.
