Reloaded! European Values

On the occasion of the upcoming EU-Election, the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) honours the European tradition of humanism and its values by showcasing the event series Reloaded! European Values between the 3th and 17th of May, at the House of Europe. The event series refers to the Day of Europe and acknowledges transnational peace, liberty and prosperity in Europe. Celebrating this event, the Rumanian and the Czech Ambassador, Iulian Buga and Šitler, will host the inauguration of the exhibition “Europe – Heritage of Humanists” (in Swedish) on the 7th of May.

The exhibition contains an introduction to a few magnificent and influential, yet unknown local humanists, selected within the network EUROPA HUMANISTICA under the lead of the University of Vienna and the Austrian Academy of Science. The exhibition will be open for visitors until the 17th of May at the atrium of the House of Europe. It is supported by a framework program on the 15th of May containing a reading by actors of Dramaten (Choir of Humanists), a panel discussion addressing the topic European Humanism past & present and a movie screening (The Center by Stanislaw Mucha, English subtitles). Panellists will be Nina Burton, essayist and member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Science; Anders Bergman, journalist, author and humanism expert as well as Isak Hammar, historian and in charge of the humanistic think tank Humtank. The discussion will be moderated by Sverker Sörlin, professor at Royal Institute of Technology.

EUNIC Stockholm is convinced that calling European values to mind is promising to take on challenges of the European present and future. Reloaded! European Values invites its audience to take a journey through time to remember and celebrate the diversity of humanistic European heritage from a pan-European perspective.
