Italian stories of love – from The Decameron by Boccaccio

Lovely and irresistibly funny, ”Italian stories of love” is a composition of ancient erotic stories from Boccaccio’s Decameron, rendered in a modern and direct language. With humor, energy, and poetry the Italian storytellers Paola Balbi and Davide Bardi bring the stories of the Decameron back to their original oral dimension, celebrating their timeless value as a metaphor for the joy of living and hymn to youth, pleasure and beauty. This is a performance with live music and words, with passion and artistic clarity. Raccontamiunastoria is accompanied on stage by Musikteater Unna which is the Swedish performance storyteller Johan Theodorsson and folk musician Anders Peev.

Italian stories of love is performed in English by Compagnia di storytelling Raccontamiunastoria (Italy) and Musikteater Unna (Sweden). It is part of an EU-project called ”Roots and roads: traditional heritage stories to connect contemporary European audiences”. It is an artistic collaboration between three storytelling companies in three different countries: Raccontamiunastoria (Italy), Fantasiförmedlingen/ Musikteater Unna (Sweden) and Beyond the Border Storytelling Festival (Wales).

Raccontamiunastoria is a storytelling company that from its foundation dedicates entirely its stage activity to the art of Storytelling: it organizes shows, interactive evenings of stories and storytelling festivals in Italy and Dubai. Paola Balbi and Davide Bardi are the artistic leaders of the company and the two you will meet on stage in todays performance.
